Kitchen habit drinks only — not disease treatments. Use mild amounts. Skip any leaf you are allergic to. Pregnant people and anyone on heart, blood-thinner, or diabetes medicine should ask a doctor first. Herbs can interact with medicines.

Kashaya as a kitchen habit

Mild teas from ordinary Indian kitchen ingredients

A simple rotation of mild teas — not strong herbal concentrates. Ginger, tulsi, turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, fenugreek, ajwain, sesame, amla, lemon. Supportive food/drink habits, not treatments.

Tea poured through a steel strainer
Strain a short-boiled kitchen tea. Mild amounts, warm cup.
Cumin, coriander, cinnamon, fenugreek, ajwain
Cumin, coriander, cinnamon, fenugreek, and ajwain from the pantry.

Basic cup method

  1. Boil about one glass of water (200–250 ml).
  2. Add the mild kitchen amounts from the guide below.
  3. Simmer or steep 5–7 minutes as noted. Cover. Rest briefly.
  4. Strain. Drink warm. Optional tiny pinch of jaggery — keep sugar low.

You do not need every tea in one day. Keep quantities mild if you drink regularly.

Important

Think of these as supportive food/drink habits, not treatments for diseases. Evidence for many traditional herbal claims is limited. Ginger has some evidence for nausea; turmeric supplement claims for many conditions are much less conclusive.

See a clinician

Fever with breathing trouble, chest pain, severe vomiting, or symptoms that do not settle are not a tea project.
